MY CREDO: The Doctrine of the Word of God

  • I believe all Scripture is God-breathed (2 Tim 3:16), for the Holy Spirit moved the prophets and apostles to write (Num 24:2; 2 Pet 2:21).
  • The Word of God is comprised of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments (2 Pet 3:16).
  • The Church did not create but rather discovered the Canon (Jn 10:27).
  • The Bible is the final standard by which all truth claims are to be measured (Jn 17:17).
  • The Bible, in its original manuscripts, is infallible and inerrant and will never affirm anything untrue.
  • The Bible is sufficiently clear and plain in its main body of teaching and all people can understand its basic principles (Ps 19:7; 119:30).
  • Scripture is necessary for us to accurately know God (Rom 10:14, 17), be saved (2 Tim 3:15), and grow as mature Christians (Matt 4:4).
  • Scripture alone is sufficient for our spiritual needs (2 Tim 3:17) and regular Scripture reading should be part of every Christian’s life (Ps 119).
