Roosevelt Institute Class - We Believe in the Holy Spirit: A Discussion - July 22, 2012 from Roosevelt Church on Vimeo.
The Apostle's Creed states, "we believe in the Holy Spirit" but are the miraculous gifts of the Spirit for the church today? In this unique class, Pastors Bob and Vocab cordially discuss their (partially differing) views on this subject and what it all means.

Hi Vocab: I enjoyed the discussion between you and Pastor Bob on the gifts of the Hholy Spirit. As a dispensationalist, we used to use Mark 16:17-26 which speaks of the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit. The purpose for this was to confirm the WORD. As we look at the book of Acts, we see less and less of the signs following
even to the point where Paul left Trophimus sick at Myletum. I realize that the canon was not complete at this time, but was well on the way. We don't see many verified resurrections today. Could that be that the Bible is well established today? It is obvious that in the early part of Acts, it was not just the Apostles who received special gifts. JimSr.

  2. Hello Brother Jim!

For me, 1 Corinthians 13:10 is a big part of the discussion. It seems to me Paul is saying the gifts will continue until we see Jesus face-to-face at the Second Coming. Here is a good excerpt on it: http://rianniello.blogspot.com/2011/01/grudem-on-1-cor-1310.html
