In I TIMOTHY 1:10 Paul talks to a young pastor in Ephesus named Timothy about SOUND DOCTRINE and 2 TIMOTHY 4:3 predicts a time will come when people will not want to hear sound doctrine much to their spiritual detriment.

I TIMOTHY 4:16 reads, "Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers". In this verse, God explains to us that proper doctrine actually saves us! See, the Word teaches that proper BELIEF, not ACTION is what saves us (John 3:16). However, proper action will always follow proper belief (James 2:26).

TITUS 1:9 says a pastor must "hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by SOUND DOCTRINE and REFUTE those who oppose it" and TITUS 2:1 plainly states, "You MUST teach what is in accord with sound doctrine".

Those are five different Scriptures from the Bible that make it known how important doctrine (i.e., correct belief about God) is. Never will you find any that say doctrine is not important or even a secondary consideration.
